The evolution of Step One Foods

The evolution of Step One Foods

Step One Foods started in my kitchen. Hours and hours - and hours - of evaluating ingredients, blending, experimenting, tasting, and feedback from friends and family. And then, repeat. Looking back, in some ways, that was the easy part.

Moving from small batches to larger ones was a learning experience. Sourcing ingredients at scale, finding equipment that could be used to speed up production, hiring good people to make the foods – nothing I thought about when I started on this journey.

Moving to more automated production has come with its own education. One of the things we endeavored to do, in response to customer feedback as well as our own desire to minimize packaging, was to shrink the wrapping material. But to accomplish that meant that the bar shape had to change.

So if you’ve ordered our Cranberry Pecan bars before, you will notice that they look a lot different. Please know that even though they look different, their weight is unchanged, the ingredients are the same, and the nutritional profile is just as exceptional as it has always been. So every bit of whole food fiber, plant sterols, omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants that you’ve come to expect are all still in there.  Using different equipment has allowed us to produce a softer bar. We love the softer texture, but we’d like to get your feedback. Please let us know what you think.

As time goes on, the shape and packaging will likely continue to change as we find just the right balance between bar shape and packaging volumes and as we respond to customer preferences. As I’ve come to appreciate, this is all part of the natural evolution of food products. And you will have been there with us as we grew and learned along the way.

We truly appreciate your continued support, embracing our company and our mission. We will never take that support for granted and we will always bring you the best food possible for managing cholesterol and supporting cardiovascular health. Because that’s the only reason Step One Foods exists.
